Drakenheim was once a prosperous kingdom, but it now lies partially in ruins, due to the devastating event known as The Fracture. The kingdom was once kept in balance by a mystical crystal - the Drakenheart - but it was shattered during The Fracture, scattering its powerful shards across the Drakenheim. These broken shards seem to corrupt everything they touch, turning peaceful creatures into monsters, and beautiful regions into dangerous wastelands.

The Fracture not only caused devastation across the kingdom, but split the east and west into two, leaving a volcanic chasm to separate them. The only way to cross is a treacherous journey around the chasm.
